lecturemates.
for usc students

terms of service

the same treatment as the privacy policy: a structural skeleton so the shape of the agreement is visible early, standing in until counsel reviews the real thing.

draft — not yet reviewed by counsel. everything below is a structural placeholder, not a binding policy. don't rely on it, and don't ship a public signup against it until this notice comes down.

who can use lecturemates

usc students, 18 or older, who verify with a real .edu address. one account per person — the account represents you, not a role or an organization.

your account

you're responsible for what happens under your account. don't share your login, don't verify with an address that isn't yours, and don't add sections you aren't actually enrolled in.

content you post

you keep ownership of what you post; using lecturemates means letting us display it to the classmates it's meant for. the final terms will list what's prohibited in full — at minimum: threats, hate speech, harassment, and sexual content involving minors are never allowed, named or anonymous.

anonymous posts

anonymous doesn't mean unmoderated. the same content rules apply, reports are reviewed by moderators, and violations get removed regardless of who's watching. it also doesn't mean untraceable to us — anonymity is between you and other students, not between you and enforcement of these terms.

greek rank

greek rank is a running, user-submitted popularity vote. rankings and vote counts are opinion content generated by campus votes — they are not statements of fact, not affiliated with the organizations listed, and not endorsed by them.

suspension and termination

we can suspend or remove an account that violates these terms. you can delete your account at any time; what happens to your data when you do is covered in the privacy policy, which is itself still in draft.

not affiliated with usc

lecturemates is independently operated. it is not endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with the university, and references to "usc" describe who the product is for, not a claim of institutional backing.

disclaimers

lecturemates is provided as-is while in draft; the final terms will carry the usual warranty disclaimers and liability limits, reviewed rather than copied from a template.

changes to these terms

once live, the version you agreed to is recorded against your account, and material changes will be surfaced rather than silently reflowed.

contact

a monitored contact address will be published here once it exists. this page will stop saying "draft" the day that's true.
